hVAC WAREHOUSE HEATS UP WITH COOL NEW TECHNOLOGY

Named for founders Jim Winget and Jerry Trimbach, 2J Supply opened in Dayton in 1962 to serve as a distribution house for HVAC contractors. Both “Js” had experience in the HVAC trade, and knew contractors in their community needed a business that was easy to work with to get the supplies they needed. Since then, 2J Supply has become a leading wholesale distributor of HVAC products in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

Still growing nearly 60 years later, 2J Supply found they needed more room for their Columbus operations. They decided to build a new location that would better fit their needs, including a warehouse and office space. During their construction process, they chose Integrated Building Systems as their technology partner for the project.

As with all new commercial construction in Columbus, the building was required by city fire and building code to provide adequate indoor radio coverage for emergency services personnel. Once the core and shell of the building were complete, Integrated Building Systems conducted this life-safety test. The building passed the test, so 2J did not need to add an Emergency Responder Radio System (ERRS) to the overall technology project.

After ERRS testing, the next step was to install the low-voltage infrastructure. Integrated Building Systems planned and installed the CAT-6 cabling backbone that 2J Supply needed to support voice, data, security, and audio-visual needs throughout the building.

Cabling in place, the building was outfitted with a security system, which included an IP-based camera system and perimeter security with a controller, motion detectors, and battery back-up. Wireless access points ensure strong signal in the warehouse.

The space would not have been complete without some final A/V touches. Integrated Building Systems installed two TV displays, one in a conference room and one in their lobby for digital signage.
