BIOMECHANICs firm creates innovative tools that improve well-being

Innovative biomechanic tools developed by Bertec achieve admirable results for many people, from providing data that helps professional baseball players improve their swing to helping veterans recover from traumatic brain injuries.

Bertec, based in Columbus, Ohio, is an internationally recognized designer and manufacturer of research-grade and clinical biomechanical equipment and software.

The firm lists Nike, the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team, Toyota Robotics, the National Institutes of Health, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Harvard University as among its clients worldwide.

Founded in 1987, Bertec designs tools like high-tech treadmills, immersive virtual reality labs, and force plates that are used by athletic trainers and physical therapists to help athletes and patients meet performance and rehabilitation goals.

Bertec doubled the workspace for its growing team by building a new, 26,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in 2019. Integrated Building Systems helped Bertec plan the high-speed technology infrastructure and IT solutions it needed to help its team work safely and efficiently.

Integrated Building Systems designed and installed:

  • Connectivity for voice, data, and video with low-voltage, CAT-6 cabling infrastructure

  • Security solutions with pendant-style CCTV security cameras and access-control system

  • Audiovisual solutions with paging system and background music, using pendant speakers that blend unobtrusively with the sleek, black ceiling design
