Say hello to Eric Evans, who joined Integrated Building Systems in 2013 as an Audio-Visual Design Engineer.
Every day, Eric masters complex AV systems to make it easy for clients to show, share, and stream information any way they like. He specializes in large format audio, digital video, and Crestron control systems.
“I take pride in coming up with simple solutions that everyone will readily use to make their jobs easier,” Eric said.
FROM THE WHITE HOUSE TO MARS
For 25 years, Eric’s AV creations have enhanced classrooms, executive boardrooms, video displays, auditoriums, presentation systems, distance learning, and corporate conferences.
Even the White House benefited from Eric’s skill, when he set up and operated a sound system for a stop on Ronald Regan’s train tour and a pre-election event for Joe Biden. Recently, Eric designed new AV systems in corporate conference rooms for Mars Corporation, purveyor of chocolates (Eric’s favorite candy), pet food, gum, and beverages.
No matter the scale of the project, Eric says that effective AV solutions come down to one thing: “It’s all about a great technology design. The end goal is to have AV systems that can be used effectively every day and that integrate well with the other building technologies.”
DEEP ROOTS
These days, Eric’s work is concentrated in corporate offices, but he honed his work ethic in an outdoor environment. Eric grew up in the country near Carrollton, Ohio, and had several relatives that were farmers—so as a boy, Eric worked on a relative’s family farm during the summers.
“My education really started while I was working on the farm,” Eric reflected. “You have to know a lot about so many things. From engineering mechanics to horticulture, the phrase ‘professor of many and master of none’ comes to mind.”
Appropriately, Eric attended a college with deep roots in agriculture—The Ohio State University—where he majored in Audio Recording. The degree was a cross between music and electrical engineering.
Working in a dynamic field like technology presents opportunities nearly every day for Eric to research, learn, or experiment with something new. Eric’s endeavors have qualified him to earn numerous technical certifications, including titles from Allworx, Biamp, Bogen, Clearone, Crestron, Infocomm , Shure, Sony, and Tandberg, to name a few.
